Twin Silo Farm, a 100-acre estate in Doylestown, Pa., dating back to 1710, has one of the few remaining stone homes built when Pennsylvania was still a colony defined by the William Penn land grant. The house, which started as a single-room farmhouse in the 1700s, has been expanded through the centuries to its current state—a 15,000-square-foot oasis situated near 50 splendorous acres of gardens. The main home features restored original hardwood floors and deep sill windows, exposed beams, a slate roof, custom-made maple kitchen cabinets, ultramodern appliances and cooking stations, six bedrooms, and seven full bathrooms, plus two half bathrooms. The estate has been renovated and restored by its current owner over a 25-year period; the newest renovation added a master suite, an office, a studio, a media room, and three bathrooms to the colonial-style home.

While homeowners could easily spend all day in the richly decorated house, there are a wealth of activities to participate in outside as well. The grounds include a 2-acre lake with a private island, a heated pool and spa, a tennis court, an entertainment pavilion with a reflecting pool, a four-car garage, immaculate gardens, a three-bedroom guesthouse, a hedge maze, and a llama house (yes, you read that right). The restored stone barn, which is the largest of its kind in the entire state, dates back to the American Revolutionary War and features the namesake silos. The estate is currently listed for $8,860,000. (Inquiries: Caryn Black, Addison Wolfe Real Estate, 267.614.6484 or 215.862.5500 ext. 113, caryn@addisonwolfe.com; twinsiloestate.com)
