    The Hennessy Prestige range represents the pinnacle of luxury in the Cognac category. The newest Prestige offering, Hennessy Paradis Impérial, is made from a blend of more than 100 of the finest eaux-de-vie from the 19th and 20th centuries, aged between 30 and 130 years. As the maison prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, we explore the Hennessy legacy with Maurice Richard Hennessy, the global brand ambassador and an eighth-generation family member. 

    Being born into one of the most iconic beverage-industry families, when did you decide that you wanted to follow the Hennessy family tradition?

    Being a part of the Hennessy family, I’ve always had a natural interest in Cognac and our business. Cognac is a sophisticated and complex spirit, so it wasn’t until my 20s that I was able to fully appreciate it. As I grew older, I became interested in the agricultural process of its creation.

    As part of the eighth generation of the Hennessy family, what defines your family legacy?

    The craftsmanship and quality of the product we produce is unlike any other. Next year, we celebrate a huge milestone: Hennessy’s 250th anniversary. The fact that we’ve been able to remain the top-selling Cognac brand in the world as well as maintain the quality of taste and craftsmanship over that period is something very few brands can say they’re able to do.

    As the leading Cognac brand, the Hennessy Prestige offerings are setting a new benchmark for excellence in the category. What are you most proud of with this collection?

    The Hennessy and Fillioux families have spent centuries perfecting the blends we now call the Prestige range—Hennessy X.O., Hennessy Paradis, Hennessy Paradis Impérial, and Richard Hennessy. Each blend has its own story, aromas, flavors, and meaning.

    Some of the offerings in the Hennessy Prestige collection have been aged for more than a century, so I am very proud of the history that this range represents. My ancestors took great care preparing these limited-edition blends, and the Hennessy Prestige range truly represents the delicate craftsmanship that goes into each bottle. This exclusive range gives the more seasoned Cognac drinker even more options to choose from when selecting a luxury Cognac to indulge in.

    Hennessy has been involved with many cutting-edge and innovative artists in the past. How has artistry influenced the brand’s “Never stop. Never settle” campaign?

    The Hennessy “Never stop. Never settle” campaign is all about pushing the limits of potential. As a brand, we push the limits of potential every day, which means we always align ourselves with musicians, artists, and actors who embody this mantra. The artists we’ve partnered with for the Hennessy V.S. Limited Edition bottle series include KAWS, Futura, and Os Gemeos; and we recently shared the news that we are partnering with Shepard Fairey this year for the fourth installment of the limited-edition bottle series. They are all incredibly talented artists who have pushed the boundaries of art in one way or another.

    What's your favorite little-known Cognac fact?

    At the beginning of the Prohibition era, Hennessy was the only spirit sold in pharmacies with a doctor’s prescription.
