Through June 6, Adelson Galleries in Manhattan is offering a collection of artworks by the American Impressionist Mary Cassatt (1844–1926). Over the past eight years, art dealer Warren Adelson has sold more than 300 works on paper by Cassatt. The pieces belonged to the estate of Cassatt’s French dealer, Ambroise Vollard. Mary Cassatt: Prints and Drawings from the Collection of Ambroise Vollard (www.adelsongalleries.com), the third and final exhibit of this material, contains 140 works. “Cassatt was far more obsessive than I thought,” Adelson says. “She remade each image again and again. Seeing the Vollard collection en masse, you get a sense of the artist at work. It’s like looking over her shoulder.”
