A Designer Treasure Chest

La Malle, an exquisitely crafted cabinet that will be produced only by special order, is the result of a collaboration of three European design luminaries. Tristan Auer, the man responsible for the interiors of upscale establishments like Paris’ Hotel Jules and Monte-Carlo’s Muse restaurant at the Meridien Hotel, is the designer; Dedar, the renowned luxury fabric house of the Lake Como–based Fabrizio clan, is the source for all the textiles; and Camille Fournet, the man known for his colorful alligator watch straps for the past 50 years, does all the leather workmanship. Master ébénistes at the Parisian firm Maison Dissidi created the actual cabinetry. La Malle is swathed in black calfskin, with handles of alligator. Inside, on the facing and interiors of drawers, it features some of Dedar’s most lavish fabrics, including Dedalus, Tabularasa, Mezzaluna, and Camaleonte. It sits on an epoxy black steel base and will sell for about $41,130. (+39.31.2287511, www.dedar.com)
