Signature: Perhaps because he began as a modernist (with a modernist’s sense of the needs of contemporary living), Pinto’s interiors, no matter how classical or formal, place a high premium on comfort. Even when appointed with priceless antiques and art, they sidestep stiffness and stuffiness, telegraphing instead a welcoming sense of beauty. Pinto also has great respect for architecture as a defining element of a space and an “unwavering commitment to the savoir faire of craftsmen who respect the great traditions of furnishings and textiles.” And, perhaps because of his Moroccan cultural heritage, no one does what he calls “Orientalism” better.
