Design Seen: Byung Hoon Choi

<< Back to Robb Report, Robb Report Home & Style – May/June 2014

Armed with a chisel, sandpaper, and a blowtorch, the Korean artist Byung Hoon Choi transforms monolithic slabs of basalt into sculptural benches. Choi’s art furniture is part of the permanent collection at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and an exhibition of his work recently appeared at the same city’s Friedman Benda gallery, where the benches are still available for purchase. 212.239.8700, www.friedmanbenda.com
