FrontRunners: Cool Shades

<< Back to Robb Report, Car of the Year 2011

Sally Sirkin Lewis, who has spent nearly four decades creating designs for her Los Angeles–based furniture and textiles company, has introduced J. Robert Scott Ombré (www.jrobertscott.com), a finishing technique that leaves wood veneer with a gradient of color from dark to light. The proprietary process yields a watercolor-like glaze that varies in intensity depending on the surface on which it is applied. The Ombré finish comes in a variety of color schemes and can be applied to any of the company’s made-to-order pieces for a fee equal to 10 percent of the item’s original price.
