In addition to Lladró’s renowned handmade figures, Spain’s 62-year-old porcelain company also creates distinctive lighting designs. The newest example is the Lladró Niagara Chandelier-Gold chandelier, which looks as if it emerged from the pages of a storybook.
The London-based German designer Bodo Sperlein fashioned the chandelier with over 100 handmade porcelain fairies, many affixed to butterfly-like wings that appear coated in gold fairy dust. Painstakingly handcrafted by local artisans in Valencia, Spain, the whimsical fairies are attached to the chandelier by thin silvery fiber-optic strands, giving the illusion of fairies dancing in midair.
Available with a white or black canopy, the golden-winged ethereal design joins a previously all-white model and comes in four sizes, ranging from 23.5 inches to 78.5 inches in diameter. Prices range from $19,000 to $120,000. (lladro.com)
