A wide-eyed young boy peeks at an off duty Santa Claus on his evening commute in this endearing painting by American master Norman Rockwell. Entitled Santa on the Train, this oil on canvas is part of one of Rockwell’s most well-known and beloved series, his nostalgic and heartwarming Christmas covers for the celebrated Saturday Evening Post. Rockwell created several of these holiday scenes that remain embedded in the American subconscious, works that today strike pleasant remembrances and are among his most highly prized. Signed “Norman Rockwell” (lower right).
