Shining Star

David Bromstad launches his first furniture line, David Bromstad Home...

Since 2006, when designer David Bromstad won HGTV’s debut season of Design Star, the 41-year-old has been touring the United States, completing home makeovers for his own HGTV show, Color Splash.  Last month, the Minnesota native teamed up with Grandin Road to launch his first furniture line, David Bromstad Home. Though the Ohio-based furnishings manufacturer generally aims for mass appeal, David Bromstad Home provides a touch of sophisticated glamour, with the designer’s characteristic bold colors paired with subtle metallics. The collection of more than 50 new designs in vibrant colors ranges from mirrored screens ($900) and fur-covered ottomans and benches (starting at $100) to low-backed sofas ($1,300) and solid mango wood chests ($500). Also included in the mix are subtle nods to Bromstad’s rural upbringing with animal-inspired prints and tables. Gold metallic ottomans, pillows, and mirrors are thrown in for pops of color. Though everything in the collection is intended for the indoors, Bromstad has a line of outdoor furnishings planned for later this year. (grandinroad.com)
