This Change Is Good

Numismatists take note: Coins are not just for collecting anymore; they also can be worn. Ancient or antique coins are being employed by designers as the centerpieces for fanciful rings and necklaces, including the jewelry shown here (clockwise from left): Sylva & Cie. (www.sylvacie.com) star-shaped gold pendant with diamonds and a 15th-century Venetian Republic coin ($11,250), attached to a lava-bead necklace ($6,000); Jorge Adeler (www.jorgeadeler.com) gold ring with a Roman Republic Mark Antony coin from 41 B.C. ($9,588); Coomi (www.coomi.com) gold-and-diamond ring with a Greek coin from around 150 B.C.
