The Point—that iconic Rockefeller camp turned adults-only resort on Upstate New York’s Saranac Lake—is an opulent and adventurous retreat where lavish wooded cabins have been dubbed “log mansions” and black-tie dinners are bi-weekly occurrences. This Memorial Day, the posh property will invite whiskey aficionados for the ultimate camp-out with its Old Rip Van Winkle Weekend, a three-night extravaganza in sampling the cult favorite’s rarest reserves. Taking place May 27 through 30, the event will be led by the brand’s fourth-generation scion Preston Van Winkle, who will take guests on imbibing journeys through Pappy Van Winkle’s long history, including its fabled status as one of only two distillers permitted to continue operating during the Prohibition era. Each night, visitors will gather for multicourse dinners paired with Van Winkle’s best. During the day, guests may choose to while the days away with a hike, a book by the fireplace, or—as one might expect William Avery Rockefeller did from time to time—an afternoon tipple.

The Point’s Old Rip Van Winkle Weekend (priced from $1,600 per night, based on double occupancy) will be available to just 11 couples who will enjoy carte blanche use of the resort’s sports equipment and facilities, as well as all meals, afternoon tea, and unlimited wine, spirits, and, of course, bourbon.
