Most golfers know more than just three friends who love the game. If you would like to include all of those people in the same round, the Lodge at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif., has the answer: your own golf tournament. You, a guest, and 39 other couples will have the entire resort to yourselves for three days of dining, relaxing, celebrating, and, of course, golfing.

Upon arrival, guests will warm up with a no-pressure, nine-hole round followed by a welcome dinner of seasonal Californian dishes prepared by Executive Chef Patrick Heymann. For the next two days, however, every drive, pitch, and putt will count, as you and your guests compete for the tournament’s first-place prize: a custom-fitted 2004 Maserati Spyder Vintage. Caddies will be supplied, and course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. will play with the contestants on the second day of the 36-hole tournament.

Between rounds, you and the other competitors can unwind at the resort’s spa with a soothing 60-minute golfer’s massage, which is tailored to target the muscle groups em-ployed while playing. You and your guests can also study in the golf library or relax in the 13,000-square-foot locker room, which features a full bar, pool table, and cigar lounge. Guests who are not playing in the tournament can enjoy spa treatments and a tour of the adjacent Clos LaChance Winery and its vineyards. The tour will include a private Taste of Tuscany luncheon with a menu built around white truffles. The guests who take the tour will also create a special wine blend to commemorate the weekend and receive a keepsake magnum (one per couple).

The long weekend will conclude with a cocktail party, a five-course dinner, and an awards ceremony. After a feast of Kobe beef, fresh Hawaiian fish, and goblets of Opus One Magnum 1997 Vintage blend, Jones will present the winner with a trophy and the keys to his or her new Maserati.

    Price: $500,000
Contact: The Lodge at CordeValle, 408.695.4500, www.cordevalle.com

The price does not include transportation to CordeValle. The wine blend will arrive within 30 days of the event through distributors located near each of the guests.
