Best Of The Best 2006: Leafing Las Vegas

<< Back to Robb Report, June 2006

A stream and wood-chip walkways weave throughout 136 forested acres at Tom Fazio’s Wynn Golf Course on the Las Vegas Strip. More than 8,500 trees—pine, spruce, elm, weeping willows—and 100,000 newly planted shrubs shelter golfers from the surrounding city, while water hazards present scenic challenges on 11 of 18 holes. The 7,042-yard course, which is part of Wynn Las Vegas (see page 210), also features extensive bunkering and wide, emerald-colored fairways that feed to secluded greens. The handful of incongruous palm trees on the 14th, 17th, and 18th holes, the pricey $500 greens fees, the hum of a passing monorail, and the pro shop’s walk-in humidor (where selections include Opus Double X cigars) are the only reminders that you are still in Sin City.
