FrontRunners: Golf Partner

The Segway x2 Golf personal transporter (www.segway.com) promises to make navigating a golf course much more pleasant. Segway CEO Jim Norrod notes that the $6,000 x2 (second-generation) transporter is built for intuitive driving, with gyroscopic sensors and accelerometers monitoring the changing terrain and the occupant’s position 100 times per second. Golfers can hope that the sense of balance they develop on the x2 will stay with them when they dismount to hit the ball.
