FrontRunners: Reinventing The Wheels

<< Back to Robb Report, December 2005

Delta Cycle (800.474.6615, www.ixibike.com) of Foxboro, Mass., puts a fresh spin on the trusty two-wheeler with its new iXi bike. The 56-by-24-by-39-inch, 25-pound four speed features handlebars and pedals that fold down and an aluminum frame that, at the turn of a bolt, separates into two pieces for portability and convenient storage. For cruising, the iXi (from $799) has Skinwall 100 psi tires, a cushioned seat and handgrips, and a rubber drive belt that eliminates grease and is guaranteed for five years or 5,000 miles. Each bike comes with a tire pump and repair kit, plus a rain poncho to don when pedaling in wetter climes.
