It’s been 26 years since the hoverboard first floated into our collective consciousness, thanks to the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. From the moment Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) traveled to October 21, 2015, and found such antigravity antics commonplace, our aspirations for the hi-tech toy took flight. And why not? The very idea ranks right up there with teleportation and zero-calorie pizza in its promise to exponentially enhance the quality of life. But while two-wheeled, gyroscopic scooters have tried to abscond the hoverboard name, the real deal may be close to delivery. Here are the latest pioneering efforts to make the hoverboard happen.
