Last month, Birmingham, England’s Jack Row—the innovative young maker of writing instruments and accessories whose 2012 release Architect took home Best of the Best honors in the pen category that year—introduced his newest collection, Mirage. Like the desert phenomenon that lends the collection its name, the writing instruments and cuff links that comprise it exhibit an ethereal shimmer due to the twisted sterling-silver wire adorning them. Because each pen’s solid-silver barrel is wrapped by hand with nearly 66 feet of wire, every piece features its own unique, spellbinding pattern. There are six versions of the pen available, in four finish colors, and four feature a half-carat marquise-cut gemstone (black sapphire, pink sapphire, created emerald, or tanzanite) set into the clip.
The Mirage writing instruments are priced from $1,600 to $2,570 and can be equipped with a titanium nib, a ceramic roller ball, or, for an additional $370, an 18-karat-gold nib. The collection’s $370 cuff links have a twisted-wire texture in a silver mount and are available in finishes matching those of the pens. Each piece in the collection will be limited to just 250 examples worldwide. (www.jackrow.com)
