New York, July 15th, 2016 – British designer swimwear brand Orlebar Brown launched its Spring/Summer (S/S) 2017 Collection with their first ever Men’s New York Fashion Week (NYFW) presentation at Manhattan’s most impressive new property, Sky, located at 605 W. 42nd Street developed by the Moinian Group.
To showcase the new collection, the presentation was held on the rooftop pool deck of Life Time Athletic at Sky. Guests including Graham Norton, Bruce Pask, Eric Jennings, Monsieur Jerome, Jim Moore and Robert di Mauro, sipped on Moët Ice Imperial, the first champagne created to be served on ice, as models showcased key pieces from S/S 2017.
The collection was inspired by the carefree and chaotic elegance of artist Pablo Picasso at work in the mid-20th Century and the easy sartorialism of the clothes he chose to wear. Picasso’s life in Cannes, on the beach surrounded by his beautiful muse Françoise Gilot and his inimitable studio style, informed the overall aesthetic. Imbued with a louche spirit, the palette embraces the washed-out tones of Picasso’s rose and blue periods.
Orlebar Brown’s classic Photographic Editions also jumped into a new territory with contemporary photos in bleached tones and abstract locations. Working with photographers Kirsty Lee, Henry Lederer, Dennis Hallinan and a vintage postcard from John Hindes collection, the photographic editions capture the hazy romance of the summer.
“We are thrilled to have aligned with three outstanding brands, Orlebar Brown, Sky and Life Time Athletic at Sky for Men’s New York Fashion week. The coupling of Orlebar Brown’s design and attention to the human form with Sky’s innovative approach to sculpting the skyline made this collaboration a natural fit. Both brands truly embrace Bold’s fresh and forward-thinking dynamic,” said Jordan Sachs, Co-Founder and CEO of Bold New York.
The event marks the first in what will be an ongoing series of exciting and unexpected events that Bold New York will be hosting at their clients’ properties across the city. Bold strives to find new ways to utilize exceptional residential spaces, and immerse residents in the vibrant culture that New York City exudes on a daily basis.
