Tucked away on the Via Ripamonti in Milan, Italy, the family-run Maglia Umbrella Company (ombrellimaglia.it) has been crafting fine umbrellas since 1854. Each umbrella requires approximately 70 steps to make and is mounted on a solid natural-wood stick or metal shaft. The fabric model shown here ($400) features a handwoven leather handle. The company’s bespoke umbrellas can be made with alligator, lizard, or silver handles, and in a variety of fabrics including jacquards and tartans. The starting price is $300.
