FrontRunners: Glove Story

<< Back to Robb Report, The Private Travel Issue

Over the years, Martin Dingman (870.422.7151, www.martindingman.com) has applied his talent for working with leather to everything from belts and wallets to footwear and watch straps. Recently the Diamond City, Ark., accessories designer has been dealing with the issue at hand, introducing a colorful sampling of gloves made from the finest South American peccary (wild boar) and Italian matisse suede (derived from baby lamb). Finer than calfskin or deerskin, the $275-to-$350 gloves, particularly those made of matisse, are amazingly soft, like chamois. Dingman’s gloves also pack a one-two punch. Unlike other makers, he uses two separate layers so that the material on the inside is the same as on the outside.
