The French luggage manufacturer Delsey has partnered with one of France’s most recognizable names in the design industry, Philippe Starck, to create StarckTrip—a sleek line of luggage, available beginning this month, that is as practical as it is stylish. Eight of the bags in the 16-piece collection will be available in the United States, including the cylindrical Bogotack backpack ($220) and the 22.5-inch La Habanack rolling trolley ($680), which features a hidden compartment and a tablet sleeve. Also available in the United States will be the smaller, carry-on version of the trolley ($550), two tote bags (in the $300 to $400 range), and three duffle bags in various sizes (from $410 to $620). Additional items available overseas include stand-alone tablet sleeves and slick portfolios and document holders. All of the matte black pieces are crafted from lightweight, waterproof fabric that is designed to be retardant against bacteria and dirt while protecting against data theft. Starck’s signature logo, a simple white cross, is the only embellishment on each piece except for a metal rod-like handle on many of the duffels and totes. StarckTrip can be found online and, for a limited time, in a new pop-up store that opened this week within Bloomingdale’s New York City location. (delsey.com)
