The reopening of the Hermès flagship boutique in Beverly Hills—which took place last week following an 18-month renovation—marks a new era in the brand’s U.S. retail presence. Its address at 434 North Rodeo Drive is just a few doors down from the lot where Hermès opened its first Beverly Hills boutique 41 years ago, but the focus of the 12,000-square-foot shopping mecca—which comprises three floors connected by a spiral staircase and a rooftop garden for events—is on its future.
The store has areas for ready-to-wear and accessories, and on the second level is an area for its growing made-to-measure category where men can work with specialists to order custom suits, shirts, and more. The third floor showcases the brand’s growing home collection with a lounge, study, dining room, and bedroom featuring a broad range of furniture and home accessories, plus products from the Hermès-owned Saint Louis tabletop and Puiforcat silver brands. A separate workspace is dedicated to custom design projects.
To celebrate the reopening, Hermès has designed an exclusive collection of one-off items on the brand’s 2013 theme, “A Sporting Life.” Items include silk ties ($195), a leather basketball in honor of the Los Angeles Lakers ($12,900), and a handcrafted leather trunk made for carrying wine ($88,726).
