Step Inside the New Flagship Store of One of Manhattan’s Hippest Leather Brands

In 2006, twin brothers Byron and Dexter Peart cofounded Want Les Essentiels, a leather-accessories brand with the goal to create functional, fashionable designs for men’s totes, briefcases, luggage, wallets, and more. After selling a slew of products at Barneys New York, the brothers are branching out with their very first flagship store. Located in the heart of the West Village, the shop opened in October 2015.

Tucked inside a cozy brick building, the leather-goods shop offers a variety of the standard accessories as well as sweaters, blankets, and shoes. An airy entryway with floor-to-ceiling windows funnels into a large wardrobe with men’s and women’s clothing, where guests can model their selections in front of a full-length mirror.

A plant-lined tearoom decorated with European mid-century furnishings serves as the perfect place to have a sip before searching through the long list of carefully curated items. In addition to the brothers’ label, shoppers will find items from Tomorrowland, Aspesi, 1205, Paper & Tea, and other international brands. (wantlesessentiels.com
