Front Runners September 2015: Classics Reimagined

Influenced by the clean, structured German design aesthetic, the Greek jeweler Nikos Koulis (nikoskoulis.gr) is showing traditional diamonds in a new context. “I wanted to revisit classical diamond rings because I never like the high-prong setting,” says the 38-year-old Koulis. His designs include the Oui ring (bottom), which features a 2.26-carat diamond framed in enamel and set in gold. The ring is made at Koulis’s Athens workshop, where craftspeople also produced the one-of-a-kind designs shown here (top and middle). Both are from his Universe collection. The necklace features diamonds, moonstones, emeralds, and pearls. The ring is made of diamonds and emeralds. Prices for all three pieces are available upon request.
