After cultivating a devoted female following, British jewelry designer Stephen Webster (212.226.6160) is looking to attract a male audience with his first men’s collection, dubbed Rayman. In contrast to Webster’s colorful and bold designs for women, Rayman has a distinctly masculine appeal with dark, rugged steel and richly textured gold that has the pebbly appearance of stingray skin.
The cornerstones of the collection are chains made from distinctively shaped gold links that are engraved with geometric patterns and assembled by hand. Each necklace and bracelet closes with a stylized clasp that is an integral part of the design. The collection also includes a variety of chunky stacking rings and steel and gold rings with subtle diamond accents. “Most guys don’t want big rock-star rings,” says Webster, “but they do want more stylized jewelry than just the basics.”
