Jeweler Coomi Bhasin’s training as a textile designer is evident in the soft, flowing appearance of the gold and gemstone pieces in her collection, called Coomi (866.867.7272). One group, for example, features thin gold wire wrapped into geometric shapes that are linked together to form a bracelet or necklace. “Coils, spirals, and wires suggest connectivity, continuity, and endlessness,” says Bhasin, a native of Bombay. Other designs depict 18-karat gold vines and tendrils that delicately hang from a necklace or earrings with rose-cut diamond accents.
For 10 years, Bhasin has been making one-of-a-kind pieces for private clients. Last year, however, she developed her first complete collection, which is available in New York City’s Asia Society on Park Avenue. “I have so many stories to tell through my jewelry,” she says. “Now, I have a place to showcase them.”
