Brazilian jeweler H. Stern, known for its colorful gemstone pieces, has collaborated with legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer on a collection of jewelry that reflects the artist’s curvaceous, simplistic forms. Both names are famous in their native country for significant contributions over many decades: Stern’s family helped cultivate the country’s gemstone business and Niemeyer-designed buildings are seen throughout the country, particularly in Brasília, the capital.
The 102-year-old Niemeyer sketched the jewelry designs and collaborated with Roberto Stern, president and creative director of H. Stern, on the final designs, which include simple gold and gold-and-diamond pieces inspired by flowers and the female form. “The jewels are extremely pretty and very light. It’s incredible how they have managed to replicate my designs exactly,” Niemeyer said. The collection, $620 to $25,700, was launched in stores in October. (800.7HSTERN, www.hstern.net)
