BEST of the BEST 2014 | Style | Women’s Watches | Complication: Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Celestial

Since introducing a new line of women’s watches in 2012, Jaeger-LeCoultre has made the case that even the most rarefied and advanced complications can be brought into women’s timepieces without adding obvious bulk or detracting from the watches’ allure. The line’s new Rendez-Vous Celestial ($63,000) takes the sidereal-time complication, which tracks the movement of the stars across the sky, and highlights its more romantic aspects. The star disk makes a full rotation in slightly less than 24 hours, correctly compensating for Earth’s orbit. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s renderings of the constellations and zodiac signs on a base of lapis lazuli are exquisite, and a movable star can be adjusted around the dial to set the time for any rendevous, amorous or otherwise.
