Bovet’s Timely Roadster

With the new Amadeo 45 Chronograph Cambiano edition 2011 ($21,780), Bovet builds on its collaboration with famed Italian automotive design house Pininfarina. Design elements such as the blackened Amadeo case, oscillating weight, and screws were carried over from its predecessor, last year’s Tourbillon Ottanta. The convertible Amadeo case, which appears in other Bovet collections, easily transforms the piece from wristwatch to miniature table clock to pocket watch (when you order the optional black PVD-treated silver and black gold chain). For the Cambiano, the versatile case takes on a slick, contemporary character with satin finishing on the steel case band and case back to contrast with the bezel, support, bow, and crown, which are fabricated from ball-milled steel with black DLC coating. The piece’s motoring spirit comes through with accelerator-shaped push pieces positioned on each side of the case at 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock to allow for smooth operation no matter how you configure the case. With 35 components on five levels, the complex dial conveys the vision of the Italian designers who made legibility and sportiness high priorities. (888.909.1822, www.bovet.com)
