Front Runners October 2015: Second Opinion

For mechanical-watch aficionados who have nagging doubts about the accuracy of their timepieces comes the new Lepsi Watch Analyzer (lepsi.ch). The $995 device provides comprehensive information about timepiece accuracy through an app that works with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. It records data when the watch is in five different positions—one less than the six used by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the Swiss institute that certifies the accuracy of wristwatches made in that country. The Watch Analyzer measures for rate variation, amplitude, and beat error.
