The workmen have left, the scaffolding is down, and Audemars Piguet (888.214.6858) has moved into its sleek five-story Manhattan townhouse on 57th Street between Park and Madison Avenues. The opening of the brand’s American flagship store marks the first time that Audemars’ entire collection of timepieces and jewelry—including several one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces—is available under one roof. According to François-Henry Bennahmias, president of Audemars Piguet North America, the store’s mission is to become a destination for those who appreciate the finest things life has to offer, a maison that celebrates the refined lifestyle associated with the brand.
Audemars’ official housewarming party is scheduled for June 23, when Arnold Schwarzenegger will unveil the limited edition Royal Oak Offshore Termina tor 3 Chronograph, the third in the trilogy of Terminator watches. The massive $19,900 titanium watch is limited to 1,000 pieces, a couple of which will be auctioned off during the party. Also on the block will be the Indian motorcycle that Schwarzenegger rides in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the actor’s Inner-City Games Foundation. A fantastic collection of unique haute joaillerie watches will also be on display, paying homage to Audemars’ rich legacy in jewelry watchmaking.
