Panerai Recaptures the Past

This holiday season, Panerai was inspired by the spirit of watches past to come up with the special-edition PAM 029 Luminor GMT ($7,400). Like the original model from 1998, this reintroduction is limited to 1,000 pieces and features a sleek, striped tuxedo dial. Its round bezel is engraved with 24 hour numerals for the GMT function, which allows you to track a second time zone, making it a particularly useful piece for the frequent traveler. It’s the only Panerai to feature GMT hours on the bezel. The model is powered by a C.O.S.C.-certified automatic ETA movement with a 42-hour power reserve and Côtes de Genève decorations on the bridges. The PAM 029 recalls the late 1990s, when the brand was transitioning from a small Italian watchmaker with a passionate cultlike following to a global powerhouse under the ownership of Richemont, which acquired Panerai in 1997.
