Parmigiani’s Svelte Companion

Parmigiani Fleurier’s latest iteration of its dressy Tonda model is an advancement in both style and technical sophistication. Tonda 1950 ($16,900) is the company’s thinnest dress watch made to date and offers smaller versions of Parmigiani’s iconic lugs that give the design fine proportions. The thinness is partially made possible by the use of a micro-rotor winding system. This feature makes Tonda 1950 the most appealing of Parmigiani’s automatic watches, because the micro-rotor allows an unimpeded view of the finely finished movement plates, replete with interior angles. Creating anglage, or beveling, on these surfaces is possible only by hand, one of the brand’s subtle signatures. (+41.32.862.66.30, www.parmigiani.ch)
