BEST of the BEST 2015: Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum

Opened last July, the Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum (mandarinoriental.com), sits on a prime Turkish Riviera beach between the pine-covered hills just outside of Türkbükü and the preternaturally calm waters of the Aegean Sea. Picturesque olive groves, private gardens, and a series of cantilevered reflecting pools complete the serenely stylish scene at the resort, which features 109 terraced rooms designed by the Italian firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Interiors. Off-white Turkish rugs and other Anatolian decor accent the contemporary rooms, some of which include plunge pools. Among the 148-acre resort’s many amenities are two private beaches, a 30,000-square-foot spa, and 10 restaurants. Guests also need not stray from the property for a taste of the Turkish Riviera’s famous nightlife: The waterfront JuJu Bar entertains with mixologists concocting and DJs spinning every evening. ($270–$21,960)
