Best of the Best 2012: Resorts: Amanruya

<< Back to Robb Report, 24th Annual Best of the Best

Opened in December, Amanruya (+90.252.311.12.12, www.amanresorts.com) is the third Mediterranean resort and 25th property worldwide from Singapore-based Amanresorts. The 36-villa retreat—located outside Bodrum, Turkey, on a hill overlooking Mandalya Bay—recalls an ancient Mediterranean village, with a collection of locally designed structures modeled after nearby farmhouses and traditional Ottoman buildings. The cottage-style accommodations feature white-marble flooring, bathrooms that incorporate elements of Turkish hammams, and high-walled gardens with private marble pools and çardaks (pergolas). Stone paths connect the cottages to the beach and public areas, which include four intimate dining spaces set high on the hill, a 164-foot green-marble pool, and a three-story library that acts as the resort’s village tower. Daily excursions range from visits to the ancient city of Ephesus to yachting adventures on the Mediterranean Sea. ($1,050–$1,175)
