To launch their newly formed partnership, the private-flight charter broker Chapman Freeborn and the superyacht excursion company EYOS Expeditions are offering an incredible private journey to the Arctic. Though all trips can be customized, this inaugural trip begins with private-jet transportation to Bodø, Norway. From there, aboard one of the EYOS yachts, which offer private berths and decks that afford 180-degree views, guests will embark on a 10-day, 500-mile journey north to the icy islands of Svalbard, Norway—a 60 percent glacial archipelago with scenic mountain vistas. Available activities in Svalbard include hiking through tundra, kayaking across peaceful fjords, and whale and walrus watching. At other stops during the trip, guests will have the opportunity to take kayak or Zodiac excursions to 1,000-year-old glaciers, visit floating icebergs, and view various Arctic species of animals including seals, puffins, kittiwakes, and polar bears.
Journeys are all tailored to meet scheduling needs and preferences, and are thus priced individually. Private-jet transport for the Arctic journey ranges from about $83,000 to $352,000, depending on the departure city and number of passengers; the 10-day EYOS expedition starts at about $300,000 for 12 people. Upcoming journeys include trips to Greenland, Iceland, and Antarctica, as well as potentially a crossing of the rarely traversed Northwest Passage. (www.chapman-freeborn.com)
