The Fairmont Jaipur occupies a prime 9-acre site just outside India’s Pink City, on the road to Amber Fort. Opened in August, the newly built hotel was modeled after 17th-century Mughal palaces, with intricately painted walls, carved screens, and adornments ranging from antique hookahs to vintage suits of armor.
Four-poster beds, lobed archways, and his and her rain showers are among the many opulent touches in the Fairmont’s 255 accommodations, which include seven one- and two-bedroom suites and 10 villas. Guests can choose a view of Jaipur city, of the surrounding Aravalli hills, or of a 12-treatment-room spa that is scheduled to open next year.
Off-property pursuits include elephant and camel excursions at the hilltop Amber Fort, as well as garden tours, guided hikes, visits to the Jantar Mantar observatory, and shopping trips to peruse the many gem and carpet dealers along Jaipur’s broad pink avenues.
