Front Runners August 2015: Euro Escapes

New retreats from the Tuscan hills to the Balearic Islands.

Super Tuscan ❖ Unveiled in April in the southern Tuscan region of Maremma, the seven-bedroom Caselvecchio (available through Homebase Abroad, homebaseabroad.com) sits among rosebushes, lavender gardens, and rolling Brunello vineyards. Panoramas of the Ombrone Valley can be seen throughout the estate (price available on request), which features an infinity-edge pool and expansive alfresco terraces.

Farm Refresh ❖ Puglia’s 75-acre Masseria Petrarolo (masseriapetrarolo.com) emerged in June from a four-year renovation that converted the former 17th-century farmhouse into an elegant Adriatic escape ideal for entertaining. Highlights of the eight-bedroom estate (priced from about $13,000 per week) include a rooftop swimming pool, a hammam, and acres of olive and almond groves.

Spain Attraction ❖ On Menorca, the 197-acre Cugó Gran (available through Red Savannah, redsavannah.com) debuted in June with 11 bedrooms, an 80-foot swimming pool, a spa, and a private vineyard. The estate (priced from about $50,000 per week) also includes the services of a chef, a chauffeur, and a personal concierge.
