Front Runners December 2015: Country Club

With the opening of the Soho Farmhouse, visitors to the area can now relish the English countryside with a dose of city style.

Londoners have long retreated to the quaint cottages of the Cotswolds for rustic weekend getaways. With the opening of the Soho Farmhouse (sohofarmhouse.com), visitors to the area can now relish the English countryside with a dose of city style. Located 90 minutes northwest of London by car, the 100-acre estate features 40 rustic cabins, a seven-bedroom farmstead, and a four-bedroom cottage, all decorated with bespoke floral wallpaper and vintage furnishings. A pair of milk trucks turned mobile cocktail bars add a whimsical touch to the resort’s rural surroundings, while tennis courts, stables, and a swimming pool offer outdoor entertainment. For the city slicker who prefers to enjoy the countryside indoors, the Main Barn—adorned with contemporary art and leather club chairs—channels the urban style of the Soho House’s original London outpost.
