A new wave of water-sports experiences from Bali to Bodrum.
Dive In ❖ The Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum (shown at left; mandarinoriental.com), is opening up the wonders of the Aegean Sea with its new Diving into the Eternal Blue package. Introduced in October and priced from about $780 per person per night, the experience includes accommodations at the 109-room resort and two 40-minute dives with an instructor.
Breaking Out ❖ The Australian outfitter Tropicsurf (tropicsurf.net) opened its first Indonesian outpost in June at the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay (fourseasons.com). Experienced surfers can explore Bali’s best breaks on advanced “surfari” expeditions, while novices can kick back on the tranquil waves of Jimbaran Bay (priced from $110 per person per hour).
Sails Up ❖ In June, St. Lucia’s Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina (capellahotels.com) debuted its new sailing academy, offering one- to five-day programs. Led by a certified sailing crew, the private lessons (priced from $1,300 per person) take place aboard a wooden monohull yacht and include instruction on knot tying, steering, and reefing.
