The five new guest cottages at the Bowmore Distillery (+44.1.496.810.671, www.bowmorescotch.com) bring a much-overdue amenity to the home of Scotch. Said to be Scotland’s first public accommodations located at a distillery, the cottages ($70 to $445 per night) include living rooms, kitchens, and from one to six bedrooms. Bowmore is one of seven single-malt distilleries on the wee island of Islay, whose other attractions include the 18-hole Machrie golf course and one of the world’s largest seabird sanctuaries. Bowmore plans to increase its number of cottages and add conference facilities for guests in the near future.
