L’Apogée Courchevel (www.lapogeecourchevel.com) opened in December atop the highest point, or apogee, of a former Olympic ski jump in the French Alpine town of Courchevel 1850. The lofty retreat—the newest hotel from the Oetker Collection—affords unrivaled vistas of the surrounding Alps, but the elevated guest experience extends far beyond the views. Designed by the Parisian architects India Mahdavi and Joseph Dirand, the 55-room chalet blends English-style comforts (plaid wool carpets, wood-paneled walls) with high-fashion glamour (Fior di Bosco marble bathrooms, leather-wrapped headboards). Guests can seek out après-ski delights at a Sisley-branded spa, a Champagne lounge, or a gourmet restaurant that includes an on-site fromagerie and a ham-aging cellar. Still, l’Apogée earns its highest marks for its unbeatable location, which offers easy ski-in/ski-out access to Courchevel’s world-class slopes.
