The Resort at Paws Up Hosts the Ultimate Dessert Camp

Greenough, Montana – July 29, 2015 – The Resort at Paws Up, Montana’s premier luxury ranch resort, offers unique culinary experiences for epicureans of all kinds throughout the year. This fall, the resort is calling all pie and cookie bakers, eaters and seekers to participate in a sophisticated pie and cookie camp: Upper Crust at Paws Up featuring one of the most renowned pie-baking instructors in the U.S., Kate McDermott (aka “The Pie Whisperer”),  and James Beard Award-Winning Chef Mindy Segal, former pastry chef for Charlie Trotter. By day, guests will experience pie making and baking with Kate, cookie and pastry workshops with Mindy, and wide range of wilderness adventures. Kate ensures that every student not only learns essential pie making skills, such as how to make dough, but will leave the event having made a pie from scratch from start to finish. By night, all will enjoy cuisine from Paws Up’s Executive Chef Ben Jones paired with exquisite wine.

This four-day event will be held over Columbus Day Weekend – October 9 – 12, 2015 — and is an opportunity for baking enthusiasts to join the talented Kate McDermott, owner of The Art of the Pie in Seattle, and Mindy Segal, owner of Mindy’s Hot Chocolate in Chicago, for a weekend of luxury, adventure, gourmet food and wine, and most importantly, expert insight into sweet and savory pie and cookie making.  The weekend will feature hands-on instruction in a series of cooking and baking workshops.

When guests are not baking or enjoying their creations, they can choose from a variety of wilderness adventures: hit the trails for a hike, float down the Blackfoot River or spend half a day fly-fishing, explore the Paws Up property by horseback, ATV tour or naturalist hike. At night, Paws Up’s Executive Chef Ben Jones will each serve locally inspired dinner menus for a weekend of unforgettable meals.

Upper Crust is an all-inclusive weekend October 9-12, 2015. Pricing is from $760 per person per night (double occupancy) for four days, three nights. This rate includes a private home accommodation, three meals daily, all scheduled workshops and activities, wine tastings, airport transportation to/from Missoula International Airport (MSO), and on-property transportation.
