The Maldives’ new Cheval Blanc Randheli is primed to become one of the best resorts in the world.
Why Go: In the luxury sector, a single group of brands parented by the company LVMH Hotel Management is the gold standard. Cheval Blanc Randheli will be the second-ever hotel under LVMH supervision. The brand’s first venture opened as a private chalet in Courchevel, France, for the chairman and CEO of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, before opening to the public. A hotel environment crafted with as much detail as a Louis Vuitton bag or a Berluti shoe was the result. At Randheli, such attention to detail and exclusivity is reimagined for the tropics.
What to Expect: Find abundance, ease, and comfort in every accommodation, dining venue, and public space. Instead of hotel rooms, guests stay in any of 45 residential-scale, open-plan villas with 23-foot-high ceilings. All accommodations feature infinity-edge pools and spacious indoor and outdoor living areas. Walls slide open for unobstructed ocean views. The resort has a poolside bar, four restaurants, a private dining space, and in-room dining. The Cheval Blanc Spa, with a hammam, yoga and Pilates facilities, and six treatment areas, features treatments by the LVMH-owned Guerlain.
How to Get There: Find Randheli in the northern Noonu Atoll. Land at Male International Airport, and a 40-minute flight from there by custom Cheval Blanc seaplane delivers you to the resort. (+960.656.1515, www.chevalblanc.com)
