Sneak Peek: Ellenborough

Built in the late 15th century, the English countryside estate of Ellenborough has long been a playground of the British aristocracy, even serving as the one-time residence of the Earl of Ellenborough and Viceroy of India. On February 1, the 100-acre estate opened its doors to guests as the Ellenborough Park Hotel and Spa. Offering visitors 62 rooms, some of which are renovated originals and others completely new additions, the hotel strives to retain the authenticity of the historic property. In addition to its prime location adjacent to the Cheltenham racecourse, the hotel has two restaurants, one a formal dining room and the other a more casual eatery, and a spa with six treatment rooms, a steam room, and a hydrotherapy pool. Rooms start at $380 a night, including breakfast. (+27.41.407.1000, www.mantiscollection.com)
