The new Metropolitan by Como hotel is the healthy choice in South Beach.
Why Go: The Metropolitan introduces the Singapore-based Como Hotels and Resorts and its Balinese Como Shambhala spa concept to the United States for the first time. The 74-room hotel’s wellness program includes a Shambhala Urban Escape spa with four treatment rooms, complimentary daily yoga and Pilates classes, and a hydrotherapy pool and juice bar on the roof. Throughout their stays, guests can order Como Shambhala Cuisine at two of the hotels’ three dining venues. Rooms start at about $500.
What to Expect: Miami’s Art Deco District surrounding the hotel informed its interior-design references from the 1920s and ’30s. Geometric patterns, chrome accents, and pastel colors decorate the rooms and suites, named for their views of either the Atlantic Ocean east of the hotel or Lake Pancoast to the west. A 1,000-square-foot penthouse expands to three bedrooms in an apartment-like layout. The menu at the Traymore restaurant favors seafood.
How to Get There: The Miami airport is 25 minutes by car; Lincoln Road shopping, the Bass Museum of Art, and the sands of South Beach are all within walking distance. (www.comohotels.com)
