Trump Introduces a New Al Fresco Dining Destination High Above Chicago

The Terrace at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago opens with a new menu and refreshed look…

Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago is pleased to announce the The Terrace at Trump, the downtown Chicago hotel’s sophisticated outdoor dining destination, is now open. The urban paradise, located 16 stories high above the city, unveils a unique craft cocktail program, a new menu developed in collaboration with the culinary team at Sixteen and a refreshed appearance. The renovations blend natural beauty and modern style in a breathtaking setting with unobstructed, picturesque views, lending to an unrivaled al fresco experience.

A Newly Refreshed Urban Paradise

This season, The Terrace, which seats 200, features new contemporary lounge furniture and a serene ambience emphasized by vivid green landscaping. Newly installed fire pits frame the spectacular vista of Chicago, including the Wrigley Clock Tower, Lake Michigan and Chicago River. Newly added mood lighting and a state of the art sound system project a thoughtfully selected musical soundtrack including classic and contemporary lounge music during the day progressing to upbeat global lounge as the sun sets and eventually, an Indie-electro blend of deep house music at nighttime.

Providing the Five-Star hospitality for which Trump Hotel Chicago is known, The Terrace’s fashionable staff are outfitted in urban chic uniforms ideal for a cosmopolitan outdoor environment – complete with a modern look of soft teals, rich blues and grey accents.

Savory Fare and Indulgent Sweets

Chef Devin Keller – who has worked with Chef Thomas Lents at two Michelin-starred Sixteen – collaborated to conceptualize a new al fresco menu inspired by flavor profiles from around the world. Highlights include Grilled Focaccia and Burrata Toast with heirloom tomato jam; Maine Lobster Roll with charred corn, tomato and bibb lettuce on a New England bun; The Terrace Kale Lyonnaise salad with soft poached egg, bacon lardon and fingerling potato with haricots vert and baby kale; Ricotta and Prosciutto Flatbread with slowly roasted cherry tomatoes, caramelized onions and baby arugula; and Jumbo Lump Crab and Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho with jumbo lump crab, zucchini and upland cress. Guests may share one of the indulgent Chilled Shellfish Towers featuring multiple tiers of Maine Lobster, jumbo Alaskan King Crab Legs, colossal shrimp, fresh oysters and more.  Guests can also feast on A Terrace Picnic for the whole table including a choice of crispy fried chicken or BBQ St. Louis-style ribs with coleslaw, German potato salad, fresh corn on the cob and brownies and blondies to finish.

For the ultimate summertime dessert experience, the truly indulgent 100 Dollar Sundae returns to this year’s menu, featuring 20 scoops of ice cream presented on a Lazy Susan with a bevy of irresistible toppings such as chocolate crunch, milk chocolate Rocher, pistachio nougat, raspberries, strawberry pearls, mascarpone cream, griottes and caramel and chocolate sauce.

Other tantalizing options include Baked Alaska with vanilla lime cake, white chocolate pearls, blueberry ice cream, torched meringue, blueberries compote, brown butter streusel, peach sorbet and raspberry coulis, Coconut Cream Pie with Graham cracker crust, coconut custard, coconut cream, toasted coconut and espresso powder. Peach Melba with almond financier, peaches, brown sugar streusel, peach sorbet and raspberry coulis; and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake with flourless chocolate cake, dark chocolate mousse, peanut butter mousse, caramel corn, banana ice cream, chocolate sauce and caramelized bananas. 

Summertime Spirits

The tropical and spirit-forward beverage program features fresh fruits and local ingredients, artisanal ice (included infused varieties) and hand-selected glassware to create an exceptional imbibing experience for guests. Craft cocktail highlights include:

  • Crime of Passion: Ketel One vodka, Champagne, passionfruit syrup, lemon juice and egg white
  • Staycation: Effen cucumber vodka, Carpano bianco vermouth, lemon juice, cucumber juice and ginger syrup
  • Terrace Smash: Basil hayden, ginger syrup, lemon juice and mint
  • Palace Spritz: Absolut Elyx vodka, Champagne, Aperol, grapefruit juice and simple syrup
  • Pisco View: Pineapple infused Kappa pisco, Grand marnier, lemon juice, cardamom and honey syrup
  • A Smoking Man: Bullet bourbon, Cherry heering, Amaro, spray of Absinthe and wild cherry bark smoke

For the utmost in luxury imbibing, guests can sip on the extravagant Czar’s Jewel: Chilled Jewel of Russia Vodka with gold leaves served in a crystal Waterford glass and displayed on a silver tray from Aram with sides of Ossetra Caviar and piping hot blinis. 

Guests can also enjoy a seasonal beer selection emphasizing local craft beers and a globally inspired, cheerful wine program that captures the spirit of the season.
