The Resort: Several of the 34 guest rooms, suites, houses, and cottages at Eden Rock on St. Barts are named and themed after past guests of the 60-year-old resort. Howard Hughes and Greta Garbo are among those celebrated by the accommodations, which are set along a sandy cove or atop a rock that protrudes from the beach into St. Jean Bay. Since being acquired by a British couple in 1995, Eden Rock has reinvented its accommodations and added several new ones. The resort also has two exceptional oceanfront restaurants, a small fitness center, and an art gallery.
The Villa: Villa Rockstar may not be named for a past guest, but the moniker matches this flashy beachfront retreat next door to Eden Rock. Debuted in January 2009, the two-story, 16,000-square-foot residence has four upstairs bedrooms with curved walls; a circular master bathroom with 14-karat-white-gold tiles covering the ceiling, walls, and floors; two additional bedrooms downstairs; a 12-seat dining room; a home theater; a gym; and a swimming pool and hot tub. The villa, which is attended by a dedicated butler and surrounded by 10-foot-high walls for privacy, also includes a garage with two cars for guests’ use.
The Highlight: A basement recording studio equipped with the mixing table John Lennon used in New York to record “Imagine.”
The Price: From $8,900 per night for as many as 12 people. +590.5220.127.116.11, www.edenrockhotel.com
