Sure to be a sold-out hit, Zenith’s Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to The Rolling Stones watch commemorates a band who certainly has time on its side. Released to coincide with the iconic rock group’s first concert in Cuba on March 25, the 151-year-old Swiss manufacturer’s latest timepiece reflects the creativity and precision that has embodied the hall-of-fame musicians for the past 54 years.

Set within a rose-gold case, the enameled dial is decorated with elements of the Union Jack flag and the band’s now signature “Tongue and Lips” logo created by artist John Pasche in 1971. At 12 o’clock, an offset subdial is delineated by hand-engraved roman numerals spaced at quarter-hour increments and traced by faceted, gold-plated hands. The small seconds display sits at 9 o’clock while the 50-hour power-reserve indicator is placed at 3 o’clock.

Visible under the domed sapphire is the manual movement’s patented Gravity Control gyroscopic module, which negates the gravitational toll on accuracy by keeping the balance wheel and escapement in a horizontal position. More insight into the watch’s horologic artistry is revealed through the case-back crystal.

You can’t always get what you want, however, and with one watch already going to the group, only a handful of others will find satisfaction as just five examples will be available, each priced at $243,700. (zenith-watches.com)
